It is well, with my soul..

I feel like there are some nights that you just need to sit back and relax. You need five minutes of quiet and peace.

And last night was definitely one of those nights.

It's been a crazy, hectic couple of months. I was never one of those people in high school that had 500 things to do; I was never that busy, so this year has really busted my butt. I've had to sit up, make huge decisions and then let them go the way God wants them to.

God hasn't been as big of a priority in my life, right now, as I would like for Him to be - I'll admit that right now. I've never been super Christian, knowing exactly what to say, but I haven't been listening either.

There's been so much chatter and drama - mostly negative - in my life lately, and last night during a worship time at a local church, we sang "It Is Well with My Soul" and this verse knocked me square in the face :

"Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,

It is well, it is well with my soul".

Seriously, have you thought about those words before?

I can't even count how many times I've sang that song and never thought about the words. That's what it's like for most songs - they become repetitive and you just sing them without sending that actual praise up to the Lord. It just becomes second nature.

Those words hit me like a ton of bricks because of my life lately. "Whatever my lot" - WHATEVER, it doesn't matter what it is - my soul is supposed to be okay. I'm supposed to be okay. I'm not supposed to have a negative attitude or let things affect me because whatever happens, I'm going to be okay..God will make it okay. Because He's it - He loves me no matter what I'm going through - and I SO miss that a lot of the time.

I just go about my day and not think about what a blessing each breath, each step, each smile, and each hug is. I consider myself one of the most blessed persons in the world - I mean, have you seen how great my family and friends are?

I'm probably rambling, and that's okay - I just wanted to get all that out. I feel like that sentance was meant to be heard by not just me.

"Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,

it is well, it is well with my soul.."

  1. That is one of my all time favorite songs. I think we all have moments in our life where we forget how much God does love us. You are such a blessing to me. I know you are busy but I am glad you are able to praise God through "whatever". Thanks for sharing. I love and miss you!!!

  2. That is so true!!! Singing songs in church can become a routine we go through and we don't think about what we're singing. Thankyou:) xo
